Chakra" is a Sanskrit word that literally translates to "wheel" or "turning". Pronounced “cha-kra” or “sha-kra”, it is a concept referring to wheel-like vortices of spinning energy in the aura.
The chakras are “force centers” permeating the layers of the subtle bodies from a point on the physical body. Rotating vortices of subtle matter, they are considered the focal points for the reception and transmission of energies.
Chakras occur in pairs, one in the front of the body and one in the back. Their points meet within the spine.
The seven main chakras are usually represented by the following gemstone cabochons:
First Base/Root Chakra - Garnet
Second Sacral Chakra - Carnelian
Third Solar Plexus Chakra - Citrine
Fourth Heart Chakra - Peridot
Fifth Throat Chakra - Iolite
Sixth Third Eye Chakra - Amethyst
Seventh Crown Chakra - Rainbow Moonstone
